PRIMIX sanitary static mixers are custom made mixers suitable for use in the food, dairy and beverage industries. With their sanitary design and 316L construction they offer excellent mixing and homogenizing performance. The size of the sanitary mixers can be adjusted to almost any volume flow, density, viscosity and other specific product properties.
- Maintenance-free mixers
- Predictable homogeneity
- Fast and efficient CIP cleaning
- Low pressure drop
Turbulent or laminar mixing
Depending on the element chosen, the mixing can be divided into turbulent and laminar. Turbulent mixing consists of mixing substances with which the viscosity will be aqueous or slightly higher. Flow velocities are relatively high. Radial mixing occurs relatively frequently and a technically homogeneous mixture has already been obtained in a short section.
Laminar mixing occurs with substances with high to very high viscosity. Velocities are low and pressure drops are high. Radial mixing almost never occurs. The mixing effects are concentrated around the transition of the mixing elements. At this point the two layers are forced to mix and then forced against each other so that four layers are produced, and so on.
Surface finish of static mixers
The surface of static mixers can be finished, treated or cleaned to your specifications. In general, tubing and internal elements are supplied with Ra < 0.8 polish and Ra < 1.6 polish on the weld. Electropolished blending elements are available for more critical applications.

Regulation 1935/2004
Since October 27, 2004, European regulations have applied to all materials that come into contact with foodstuffs. In the case of PRIMIX sanitary mixers, this regulation translates into two main issues:
- The materials used must be suitable for food.
- The material used must be traceable.
For the construction of its sanitary mixers, PRIMIX uses stainless steel sanitary components from industry leading manufacturers. Stainless steel is not listed as a material in Schedule 1 of the regulations (Materials with Special Requirements) and is generally accepted as a suitable material for food and beverages.
We guarantee traceability by means of EN10204 3.1 material certificates. These certificates are included in the mixer documentation and PRIMIX can provide you with a certificate of conformity on request.
